Why the Braes of the Carse Conservation Group was formed?

Due to local concern about the increasing ambition of developers to build houses unsympathetically on greenfield sites, in and around the many small settlements dotted along the Carse of Gowrie, several individuals felt there might be some benefit in a group being formed to support local residents in connection with contentious planning applications. It also became apparent that many thought there was a need for more coordinated support for nature conservation throughout the Carse.
Formed on 1st October 2009 as an unincorporated association, the BCCG has enabled volunteers, representing most settlements, to access grants for nature conservation and gain more influence with organisations such as Perth and Kinross Council and other official bodies.
BCCG membership is open to anyone who lives or works within the Braes of the Carse (see area maps below for the area we aim to represent) and anyone outwith this area, who supports our aims or just wishes to be kept informed, can register as a Friend. Elections are held annually at our AGM and we welcome new committee members or members willing to use their time to support our aims and objectives.
See our What we do page for more about us and our objectives.
